1st Annual POFF Motorcycle Club Toy Run

San Juan Capistrano, California:   Harley Davidson riders came out on Saturday to deliver toys to local disadvantaged kids.  Sponsored by the Peace Officers and Firefighters Fellowship (POFF), the charity ride attracted 75 motorcycle riders, each packing their saddle bags with toys for local San Juan Capistrano kids.

Some participants got into the spirit of the season by dressing in Christmas attire.

POFF President and Founder Neil McAllister and POFF Motorcycle Club Chairman Bob “Woody” Woodrell, both of San Juan Capistrano, decided the ride would be a good time to add an unusual Santa hat to their helmets, an accessory that made them very noticeable from afar.  "We figured we'd get everyone together to enjoy a great ride, and in a small way, bring a blessing to those families who might not have a lot this year," Neil said.

Riders gathered at Ocean Hills Church early Saturday morning.  Motorcycles roared at 9:30 AM as riders joined in formation and hit Del Obispo, followed by a fire engine from Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Humvee. OCSD Motor Officers escorted the entourage. The group made stops at the Casa Capistrano and the Villas neighborhoods passing out toys and candy.  At each of the stops, Ocean Hills Church Pastor (and Harley rider) Skip Heitzig led everyone in a prayer of thanks.

A delicious Mexican luncheon hosted by Doug and Cynthia Sieloff of Cynthia’s Steak House in Coto de Caza greeted participants at the end of the run, climaxing with a surprise appearance by the Derek Bordeaux Group, who offered up an incredibly smooth, powerful and uniquely fun-filled musical treat.

Plans are already underway for two more runs with the newly formed POFF Motorcycle Club. Be sure to catch all the news on our Events page or call the POFF office at (714) 257-1067.
